It was a flurry of activity getting everyone up, fed, packed and out the door. I waited until Matt & Peyton left (Peyton had a Chemistry Lab in Shadyside), then helped Kelly and the younger boys get fed and packed and on their way an hour later. I took a quick shower, dressed, and went to work. Just enough to keep me busy for a while. Once I got home, I stripped the two spare beds, did laundry, remade the beds, did all the cleaning, and just now (8pm) had a chicken salad sandwich for supper. I have to admit I’m ready to be done with my day. My couch looks very inviting. I have been enjoying YouTube videos about touring Europe with Rick Steves. The scenery is amazing!
Chrissy got her hair cut for her birthday- sort of feathery and wispy. Can’t wait to see it in person! And Ron sent me a picture of his ‘neighbor’ – he was taking a walk after work. The lake is about a mile from his house…
I am sharing a new preacher/message – although it was his last sermon as an interim pastor at Ron’s church. It was called Wrangling over Words. When considering words, discover your own but also other people’s perspective. He talked about what the church was and meant. The Church is the PEOPLE. Acrostic: C – Christ is the head of the church. H – Holiness – set apart. U – Unity – love and respect and equality R – reform – Change is hard but important. It can be exciting! C -Children – No matter the age, we are children of God, the aroma of Christ – What fragrance do we emit? H – Hospitality – there should be no strangers, and welcome all equally. How do we treat people? This pastor, Dr. Dennis Bennett (80 years old!) will now be able to be part of the congregation rather than leading it!
On this day in 1961 ABC’s Wide World of Sports debuted, and in 1967 Aretha Franklin released ‘Respect’. Alfred Hitchcock died at age 80, Burt Reynolds married Loni Anderson in 1988, and Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in 2011. Birthdays: 1863 – William Randolph Hearst (newspaper publisher); Duke Ellington (bandleader and composer) in 1899; Willie Nelson in 1933, Dale Earnhardt in 1951, and Jerry Seinfeld in 1954. And today my step-daughter Theresa Steele is celebrating a birthday. Have a great day, and a wonderful year! We need to get together soon! Happy Birthday!
