I did have several things to handle a work today. But luckily no problems to solve or correct. I got everything done by about 10:30am and did the filing. All three bosses were there so I ended up chatting with each of them about different issues. We didn’t solve anything but life is good.

I left work and stopped at the Dollar Tree. I picked up some Knorr rice packages, which will be easy to eat with no front-teeth biting. And a package of thank you notes as I was almost out.

Since I didn’t have any 16 oz bottles of water, so I zipped into Aldi and got that and a small tub of ice cream. Note sure what my eating situation will be tomorrow after the procedures so I wanted to have something comforting.

Since I was in the plaza anyway I walked into Marshalls to look around. I got a package of 2 utility brushes, one of the laundry and one for the kitchen.

I took the back road home, and it was pretty in the snow; in fact it’s snowing now.

Today I am thankful for chocolate ice cream!

Short one tonight. My lunch plans were postponed because Bernie (my former neighbor) was snowed in and fighting a cold and she didn’t want to share it. Wise move. We’ll do it next week or so.

I had a piece of soft bread with egg salad — and took one bite and my temporary tooth cracked down the center and half of it fell out on my plate. I can’t describe how I felt. Sigh. But I called the dentist office just to inform them of this turn of events. They called me back and moved my major dental procedures up to Friday morning. Let’s get this over with.

I turned on YouTube and found an interview with Jan Karon (my favorite author) for her newest book release (MY BELOVED) in October. One video went into the next and 2 1/2 hours later I’m still listening to videos.

I started the 3rd book in my Hearthridge series. This one is an all out mystery and I’m enjoying the clues and the information. I had my dentist appointment, and am scheduled for next Tuesday to have the roots pulled on the broken tooth, and prep done on building a bridge that includes replacing the other bonded tooth in the front. It will be very costly – but spending 5 days without a front tooth has given me valuable insight as to how important this repair and procedure is.

I came home and made egg salad – I have a temporary front tooth that I can’t bite hard on – so I’m employing soft foods for the next week. And with Fixer to Fabulous in the background I am staying inside where it’s warm and toasty.

TODAY I am thankful for amazing daughters!

This day in History: 1864 Civil War skirmish at Kelly’s Ford, Virginia (Seemed appropriate!!!)

Last night before I went to bed I took pictures of the green lights in the snow on the front deck. They looked quiet and calming!

Today was just a normal, if not freezing!, day. I am letting at least one if not two spigots drip. I had several things to do, including a few loads of laundry. Still have some ironing to do after this.

About 11am I suited up and did a few things outside. I needed to clean on the upper back deck. I don’t like the snow to be heavy on that. Don’t like it heavy on the roof, either, but I’m not going up there! The snow buried my tier walk lights so I dug them out. I just came inside when Mark, Paul, and Nick came – Paul had his plow truck and swiped my driveway while Mark and Nick cleaned the walks. Such a blessing – two days in a row!

Once they left (with a payment of cookies!) I made myself Campbells soup – Cheddar Broccoli. I paid a few bills, wrote some notes and emails, then worked on my Tazz story. I finished that and made my flax cookie balls and tucked them into the fridge.

While I was doing that, I did something I haven’t done in at least a decade. I put an ‘Adventures in Odyssey’ CD in and listened to that. It was my favorite one – the Star Spangled Odyssey one. It’s time travel back to Philadelphia, and the other is Ft. McHenry. I enjoyed that!

Autmn sent me pictures of Cameron playing in the snow last night after Noah got home from work. He loved it. Just look at that smile on his face!

Woke up to snow – it’s still snowing – snow still predicted, along with the super freezing temperatures. I dislike the cold more than the snow. I was glad not to have anywhere to go – and just putsyed around all morning catching up on chores and even inventing some! The snow was swirling so that you could barely see out the windows.

At least it’s not sticking to trees or wires!

After breakfast I moved some furniture around in the living room. Can’t move everything as a few pieces either I personally can’t move or they don’t fit anywhere else. It was time for a small change.

I just did little things – changing batteries, putting things away, looking items up online, cleaning out drawers, etc. About 4:30pm Noah’s step dad Scott and his brother Gabe came and cleaned the driveway and the decks. That was such a blessing! They may have to be cleared off a bit again in the morning but I think my cousin is going to stop over for that. I feel better knowing I can at least get out of my driveway if I have to.

Super tire!

This day in history: On January 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy becomes the first U.S. president to hold a live televised news conference.

Beef day! Not in the traditional sense, though. Kath and I did order and share a quarter beef – different people took the rest of the cow. That also meant that we were not responsible for the entire process, start to finish. We discussed processing, but then paid for the meat, and picked it up from Jason. The sunrise greeted us – promising a blessed day. And it was!

That being said, we left a few minutes early and made a few stops on the way. First, we stopped at Donna’s store and got cheese. Kathy and I bought Christmas tea towels that fell right into place with the sermons on AI that Greg has been teaching these past few weeks.

Second, we went into the bulk food store and got our melting chocolate for candy, etc. We also stopped at the ‘Shop at Smicksburg’ and each bought something there. Kathy got note cards and I got a little wooden bunny. When we left the house at 9am it was 9*; when we got to Smicksburg it was 1*. By the time we got home it was 11*. It has definitely been a COLD day. When we stopped at the ‘Shop’ there was a birdhouse sitting on a milk can – covered in thick ice! So was the PARKING lot!

Jason and his crew ( son Ethan and mother- father- in law) were just finishing up with the last of the beef when we got there. Ours was already done and frozen.

We chatted with Aunt Joan and Uncle Clifford for about half an hour. It’s always wonderful to be able to spend time with them. Uncle Clifford was full of fun, interesting stories and Aunt Joan was adding little snippets as she remembered them.

Uncle Clifford explained his little garden to us. It pumps water up on a regular basis. Those little lettuce plants were started from seeds from his summer crop. It also has a light on a timer so they get the right amount. It only took about 2 weeks to get this far!

We headed home about 1pm. Once we got to Kathy’s we divided the meat (and some corn from Uncle Clifford!) It was so cold our face was freezing before we got it done. I was able to get it packed into the freezer, all except one package of ground beef that will be for supper tonight and lunch tomorrow.

Well, here we are on the cusp of a questionable weekend. There is nothing I can do to change or predict any of this so I guess we just make the best decisions we can and keep going!

Today was a work day – there were several issues to deal with in Jeannette, and I did have outside title work to do. It was kind of nice to have a strong focus for a few hours. I stopped to help Mike P with a deal, then went to the bank. Lunch was scrambled eggs, because….

Last night I was eating a mint – tiny bites to make it last – and broke loose part of the bonding on the back of my front tooth. Over two years since I’ve had dental issues. Bummer. But I have an appointment Tuesday to have that looked at, so in the meantime I eat soft foods that I don’t have to bite off with my front teeth! No pain, really, but awkward and uncomfortable.

I’m listening to ‘Love Strikes Twice’ on Hallmark. It’s a fun comedy that I can watch over and over. That will be it for the day, except that I did laundry this morning and need to catch up on my ironing.

Today I am thankful for the promise of a dental appointment!

Frozen!

This day in history in 1943 Temperature rises 49°F (9°C) in 2 minutes in Spearfish, South Dakota – the reason this caught my eye is that one of my favorite HGTV/Magnolia Network shows (Building outside the Lines) is filmed in Spearfish.

Today I committed to helping in the shop at Hanna’s Town. It was inventory time, and I signed up. Something I’ve never done but found I really liked it. And the ladies that shared in the day were of course very nice and fun to work with. Lauren (director) purchased lunch for the volunteers and staff from Panera Bread and that was yummy, too. Oh – and here’s a fun picture of the table centerpiece in the conference room.

I came home and had a few emails to do, and then post this. So by the time I finish all that it will be time to eat. Oh – and Autmn sent me a picture of Cameron and his little friend. They had a playdate yesterday!

I have no idea what Cameron has stuffed in his shirt!

Tomorrow is work, laundry, and getting organized for the weekend. Will we get this winter snow storm on Saturday? Hopefully not until evening — I have things to do!

And hopefully not this much!

I spent the day cleaning and doing towels and taking up the trash. Then I had an annual medical test in Norwin – that went quickly and I was home at 4:30pm. I found a baby cow to sit with his mommy on my chair! And that will be my day.

I did work this morning – it was super cold out! My tire PSI went down just while I was inside! But it was still safe. I stopped and got my prescription refill on the way home, then did the editing corrections to my Tazz story. I sent the story out to get another opinion. I’m excited to see if it’s ‘worthy’!

After a fruit salad I spent a bit of time working on the family tree thing and making notes of what we need. After I post this I’m going to listen to Greg’s sermon from Sunday. I’m still keeping an eye on the water dripping and the pipes, hoping for safety and no crazy issues.
