Happy birthday today to my brother in law Paul! Since it’s 7-11 day, go get a free Slurpee at 7-Eleven!
So let’s catch up! A big thanks to Beth for the lovely card. I AM feeling better and glad to be slipping back into a routine. One little day at a time!
Tuesday night after it cooled off I pulled/dug some plants from the side and back of the shed. Then I sprayed Round-up on the little sprouts. That should stifle more weeds for a while, anyway. Then today, after I cut the grass, I trimmed the lilacs on the other side of the shed and cleaned that up a little, too.
Yesterday I planned on spending the day cleaning and doing some laundry. Autmn called and asked if I could keep an eye on Cameron – she wasn’t feeling well and needed to have a medical checkup and didn’t think she should take Cameron with her by herself. I agreed so she brought him over. He’s such a happy, fun child. And very close to walking for sure!
Nate and Jen came up for a little visit before Autmn got home.
After work today I grabbed a few groceries, ate yogurt for lunch, then cut the grass. The front didn’t need cut because it’s just a little on the crisp side. But I did spend about 15 minutes pulling weeds around the baby lilac bush, and cut back some dead stalks on the right side of the hill.
My little bunny friend likes to hang around. He doesn’t scare off easily.
My blessing today was a quick visit with my friends Greg and Lynn. Special people!!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 12th is:
Amazon Prime Day; Collector Car Appreciation Day; National Rooster Day; Etch A Sketch Day; National Eat Your Jello Day; National French Fry Day; National Motorcycle Day; National Pecan Pie Day; Paper Bag Day; National Different Colored Eyes Day.
Tuesday’s fake day was National Lemon Balm Day. Tomorrow let’s celebrate French Fries and paper bags. God bless!
It’s really not that late – only about 9:30pm – but I’m tired and need to grab something for supper. I cleaned and did laundry and also watched Cameron this afternoon while Autmn went to a medical appointment. So I’ll catch up tomorrow.
Another super warm day – right now (5:35pm) it’s 91*. I was hoping to spend fifteen minutes outside behind the shed to clean up a few stray plants — but right now it’s far too hot!
In the meantime, I have Hallmark Christmas movies playing in the background (hoping it makes me feel cooler!) and writing out thank you notes. I spent over an hour cutting out words for the LR Publication party decorations and taping ribbon on them. I think I got a little over aggressive because there are far too many words to use!
When I walked outside earlier to check the heat level I noticed a baby bunny stretched out under the wheelbarrow. He looked comfortable so I hope he is cool enough.
The front yard was in the shade and had a nice breeze, so I cut back the dead daisy stalks and the Solomon’s Seal. Only took about ten minutes and looks much better.
I plan to go over my checkbook and write a check or two – and then check the temperature again. I miss being outside!
My blessing for today was getting those words cut out.
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 10th is:
Don’t Step on a Bee Day; Gospel Day; Lemon Balm Day; National Kitten Day; Pick Blueberries Day; Teddy Bear Picnic Day.
Ironically, yesterday’s fake day was National Bee Day! Tomorrow – let’s have a teddy bear picnic! God bless…
The day started a little slow – I was moving slow. But work was busy at both stores and I didn’t get home until almost 1pm. I had a very strange lunch – a piece of watermelon and a brownie with ice cream! I will have to have a healthy supper.
I threw a load of laundry in, then went outside for a little while. I noticed that my deck chairs – that had been stored in my deck box all winter – were smelling musty. I scrubbed the box and the chairs and will wash the chair covers tomorrow. I think that will help.
I also scrubbed the Mountain Pie Irons but they look a little tattered. Not sure if they need treated again or not.
Yesterday my friend Greg sent me a picture of a huge purple-leafed plant. We decided that Eve would have loved wearing those — but Adam didn’t need anything quite that big…
Once I got the chairs done I attacked a few sections of the hill. I was only outside less than an hour but got a lot done and it looks better. Then, another shower!
I did the front walk the other day but don’t think I posted that…
I got tired of my garage broom falling over so I stopped at the Dollar Tree and got a broom holder. Works perfect!
One of the things that Diane brought me on Saturday was a collection of sea shells that she found at the New Jersey shore. So I put them on display!
My blessing for today is a little fresh air and a quiet afternoon.
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 9th is:
Fashion Day; Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Omelet Day; National Sugar Cookie Day; National Bee Day; National Dimples Day; Cow Appreciation Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Balloon Day. Tomorrow let’s celebrate sugar cookie and appreciate cows! God bless…
When I stop to think about how blessed I am, with family and friends, it almost takes my breath away! Just to recap — Last Saturday I had a call from my friend Gen in New York, and we had a lovely phone visit. She is the one who ended up pointing me in the right direction to get some medical answers.
Then that afternoon my long-time friend Lynne stopped to visit and we spent the afternoon together. A few days later my former neighbor Ginny called and we met for supper at Bob Evans. Friday my friend Diane called and was stopping over with a plethora of goodies that she had been collecting for me – mostly Snoopy items. Sunday after church I met Mary at Eat n Park for breakfast and we spent a lovely hour and a half catching up.
Add to that spending the evening with my sister at the ‘Heroes’ presentation, and a phone call from Kelly who was checking in. Then the two visits in a row from Autmn and Cameron (even though it meant a night of no sleep!). I feel like I’ve been floating on clouds of love and blessings! And there’s also the txts and emails and calls in between!
But now, back to the regularly scheduled Word Garden! Diane came over yesterday morning to bring me a ‘treat’ bag – a lot of it Snoopy. We had hot tea and scones and enjoyed catching up. She wore her Snoopy Camp shirt which of course added to the fun.
I weed-whacked and cut the grass while it was still cool enough, and that should do it for a few days. I took a second shower then did some inside chores, like ironing and changing sheets and laundry. I drove over to park at Kathy’s and we got to St. Clair Park about 5:30pm. There was lots of shade and places to sit so we enjoyed visiting and reading the program booklet while waiting for the ceremony. They had posters taped to the fence by the entrance which we could take with us. We will have to take a ride around Greensburg to find Dad’s banner once they get them all put up.
As each Hometown Hero’s name was called, the family stood briefly. There were 43 new banners this year. After the ceremony the Westmoreland Symphony performed, and my favorite part was a salute to the troops. Those songs were all familiar to us.
We left there about 8pm and went out to Chick-Fil-A to grab supper. It was fun to not have to go home and eat cereal!
Stephanie and her daughter Natalie helped with teaching this morning. We only had Max and Gracie. They listened very well to the lesson, and Stephanie had several crafts and games for them to do. They especially liked the balloon game – keeping ‘Zacchaeus’ off the ground!
Even though it was late, Max brought me a birthday card. Snoopy, of course! I told him it was OK – because I’d be 74 all year! When you open the card it plays the Snoopy dance.
When I left church I met Mary at Eat n Park and we had breakfast. We are trying to formulate a plan to move forward with more helpers and teachers. The company and the breakfast were wonderful!
It’s very hot – 87* – so I am opting to stay inside, at least for now. If it cools off a bit I may trim back the day lilies by the walk.
My blessings are numerous! 🙂

Dear loyal and loving readers! I am going to wait and post my Saturday adventures tomorrow. It was a full – but good! – day with lots to share. Rather than cut anything short I’ll just post tomorrow.

Well, what an interesting day! I had to switch the Mazda CX30 for a Chevy Trax so I was at the dealership at 9:15am. My doctor’s office called me first thing and added to my prescription so I will be taking it longer. I have been feeling better each day but still run out of steam and motivation easily. Next week I’ll find out more details. But they are being very helpful and supportive.
I came home and washed the car windows inside and out, put everything back in, and gave it a good spray of Fabreze. Nate came over to power wash, and it took him a while but the walks and steps and decks look wonderful.
I gave Chrissy some brownies for her and her friend Hope and sent some home with Nate. I also made him Tuna Casserole to take for his supper. He could have eaten here but he was soaked and a mess so it was better to send it home.
Mr. G (Neighbor) brought me over a handful of purple hydrangea from their bushes. He usually gets pink or blue blooms, so purple was unusual and he knew I loved purple so he shared! THAT was a blessing, too!
Autmn stopped after Cameron’s doctor checkup. They did a finger prick and he wouldn’t leave the bandaid on. He was dripping blood everywhere and she was freaking out! So we taped it up with masking take, put a sock over his hand and taped it on! It didn’t seem to bother him. He was happy and crawling and playing. Once we changed his clothes I scrubbed the spots off them and am soaking them overnight. I’ll wash them tomorrow with the sheets.
I trimmed back the sage as it was growing up through the deck steps. It looks much better now. Also dug out some crabgrass and weeds from the side and front flower beds. Then I got a shower and into PJ’s and that should be my night. Oh – and I did sweep and mop the basement floor, as Cameron left little red fingerprints all over everything! All good now.
My blessing today was just seeing everything working together. It was good to have my family here, to know the doctor’s office is monitoring my care, and to get a few things done. Blessings abound!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 6th is:
International Cherry Pit Spitting Day; National Bifocal Day; International Kissing Day; National Air Traffic Control Day; National Fried Chicken Day; National Play Outside Day; National Hand Roll Day; National Hop A Park Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Wren Day. Tomorrow I would LOVE Cameron kisses! But alas, they won’t be here tomorrow. Two days in a row was a bonus. How about play outside day? 🙂 God bless…
It’s a little after 8pm and I’m ready to call it a day. Autmn called last night and asked if they come stay here overnight – they had to be in Latrobe at 7am this morning and it’s over an hour just from their apartment to Greensburg. By the time they got here it was after 11pm. They are young and buzzing around all hours of the day and night with a baby doesn’t faze them. However it upset Cameron’s schedule and by midnight he was wide awake and playing with a Kleenex box in his bed!
All attempts to settle him back to sleep failed, so I brought him downstairs and we sat together and rocked and sang for over an hour. He was content to snuggle and hang on to my shirt with his little fist. He finally fell asleep about 2am — but I was fairly certain that traipsing back up the stairs and trying to lay him down would just disturb the household again.
So I spread blankets on the floor, turned on the Hallmark channel, and tucked us both into a warm little cocoon. He did stay asleep but he’s not an easy sleeper and he was all over the place. I did not sleep more than an hour or so.
But he was so fun to cuddle! At 5:30am (as predicted by Autmn!) he sat strait up, smiled at me, and was ready to play. He took off crawling across the floor and attempted to rearrange the book shelves. So my rest was done.
We played and had breakfast and sang some more and read books and kept moving breakables to high shelves. Autmn came back from dropping Noah off at about 8am and we spent the morning together. Her plans were to take Cameron to visit her dad and Jen while I took a shift at Hanna’s Town.
Today was free museum day and it was very busy! I don’t think I sat down in over 2 hours. It’s very fitting to listen to the Declaration of Independence read aloud on the 4th of July!
Once I got home, I cleaned up a few things outside, straightened up the blankets on the spare bed and put the pack and plan away. Then I made brownies since Nate and Jen are always hungry for brownies! I’m running on fumes so that’s my day! Hope you took a minute to celebrate and appreciate our freedoms.
My blessing today is living in this great country, and for spending time with Autmn and Cameron!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 5th is:
Mechanical Pencil Day; National Apple Turnover Day; National Bikini Day; National Graham Cracker Day; National Workaholics Day; Pet Remembrance Day; National Wren Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Couch Day. Tomorrow — maybe Graham Crackers and pets! God bless…
I slept really well last night, which I needed! Since I just cleaned on Sunday I didn’t have to do that today. I did a few things outside before I got a shower and breakfast, and then headed to my Doctor’s appointment. They didn’t get the results back from the tests yet but I’m definitely feeling better. Hoping it continues.
I was able to get a few groceries then came home and had lunch. It was cool enough to do some cleaning out on the hill and I got a lot done. It may not look different but I did had 2 bags of weeds and stalks when I was done.
As I type I am listening to Biltmore Christmas – big surprise. This is the last time I can watch it for now.
Talked to Autmn and expect to see her and Cameron tonight or tomorrow. Also have to do a two hour shift at Hanna’s Town tomorrow morning. I’m sad that it is supposed to rain. But this is my last chore for the night.
My blessing today was comfortable results from the doctor’s appointment.
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 4th is:
Alice in Wonderland Day; Fourth of July (Independence Day); National Couch Day; Indivisible Day; National Hillbilly Day; National BBQ Spareribs Day.
There was no fake day yesterday! Tomorrow take time to give thanks and celebrate our great nation! God bless…
A huge thanks to Beth for letting me know that the Word Garden didn’t post last night. Sometimes it gets stuck between the two sessions and I have to give it a nudge!!!
After yesterday’s long work day, today was very quick. Got everything done, stopped at the bank, and was home by 11am. I had some cauliflower and ranch dip, then went outside for a bit. It sure was the perfect day to get some fresh air and sun without melting! I cleaned the dead stalks of Dutch Iris from the corner by the flag and from the right side of the hill by the Pinky Winky.
There were a few on the center section of the hill, and I cleaned them out and trimmed back some little feathery plants that I have no idea what they are! Also cut back the dead Rose Campion.
Another shade of Gladioli are blooming – I love both the dark purple and the bright pink. And the new butterfly bush is the most gorgeous shade of blue! Amazing!
Di sent me a txt this morning that she spent yesterday hiking in the woods near Johnstown – here are two lovely waterfalls that added to the serenity of the day for her!
I’m listening to Biltmore Christmas while I type. It’s just such a fun movie!
I’m meeting my former neighbor Ginny for dinner this evening – the one with the new grandson. Hope to see more pictures! If I remember to take pictures I’ll post tomorrow.
My blessing today is fresh air and sunshine.
