I know I often say posts are going to be short, then they aren’t. But today’s will be. I was way too busy all day but thankful I could keep pace and do what needed done. I worked both stores, and although CDK is still not operating there was a lot to do. We have to follow new protocol for title submission – I feel like I started a new job – – after 57 years!
I had an egg sandwich for lunch, did a load of laundry, then against my secret energy conscious cut the grass! No problem getting that done. I was able to pick up my prescription, and when I looked at ‘why you could be taking this medication’ it said it to prevent malaria. Whew. I feel better already….
That being said, I’m done for the day except for getting supper later. Have a happy July! Oh, and since today is National Joke Day, here you go:
My blessing today was keeping pace!!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 2nd is:
I Forgot Day; Made in the USA Day; National Glitter Day; National Disco Day; World UFO Day; National Wildland Firefighter Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Road Trip Day. Tomorrow celebrate made is the USA. Because I’m betting most of us WERE!!! God bless…
Here we are at the last day of June! Half the year is over tomorrow and that’s hard to believe. Tonight I updated the Snoopy wall calendar. Tomorrow we will be on the downhills slide.
The girls – Autmn and Christina and Summer – went to the movie Inside Out 2 (which I never heard of!) last night. They sent me a photo – Chrissy was dressed as ‘fear’; Summer was dressed as ‘sadness’; and Autmn was dressed as ‘disgust’. I don’t know what any of that means but they loved being together and enjoyed the movie!
After Sunday School (which went well – 5 loaves and 2 fishes – I left and went down to the Walk-in Clinic in Norwin. I am still dealing with the aches in my left thigh. I was surprised and pleased when I found that the staff on duty was my PCP’s PA Tammy. She spent a lot of time with me, and we went over every little crazy thing that was pulling me down. She also said she had a opening in her schedule next week so they will call me with a follow up appointment! Good news. She did order some tests which I had done while I was at the clinic.
The sky was dramatic tonight but didn’t show up well on my phone.
I treated myself to a Big Mac (one or two a year at most) which of course didn’t taste exactly as I expected. Right now nothing does. But I took my time and did a quick clean of the house and washed a load of towels. Now I’m done for the day and watching A BILTMORE CHRISTMAS and drooling over Kristoffer Polaha!
My blessing today was how kind and helpful Tammy was at the clinic! What a nice lady and very thorough.
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW July 1st is:
American Zoo Day; Canada Day; Early Bird Day; International Joke Day; National Gingersnap Day; National Road Trip Day; National Postal Workers Day; National Television Heritage Day; Zip Code Day; National Picnic Month.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Sea Shell Day. Tomorrow let’s tell good, clean jokes, eat gingersnaps, and take a road trip! God bless…
I think this Word Garden will be short. I got up early and changed/washed sheets. I came downstairs to check on Chase and he was wide awake and packed up – at 8am! Yikes! I’m thinking 10 days was enough and he was ready to head home. When we got the txt from Aunt Kimmie that they were close, we headed down to New Stanton for the switch.
I got a call from Gen in New York. It was SO NICE to have that phone visit, something I really needed! Sounds like she is doing great in her new environment and feeling very much at home! We shared a few memories and encouragements and suggestions and I went away from the phone call happy and comfortable.
Gen had a few suggestions to share with Kath, so I called her and we chatted for half an hour. That was a fun call, too, just two sisters together. Paul said when he answered the phone that Kathy was wearing a purple shirt. I told her I was, too, and had on my Williamsburg shirt. She did too! Great minds think alike!
My friend Lynne (from Monongahela) messaged me that she would be in Greensburg after lunch, and we made arrangements for her to stop over. I haven’t visited with her in probably 10 years! You’d think she lived in NEW YORK or something (haha). But we caught up on things – her son Caleb is 21 and dating a lovely girl and trying to find the perfect job. Not easy! But what a perfect afternoon. She’s working for a nice firm and loves her house and is happy!
So I’m taking the evening off and will resume normally scheduled activities tomorrow. Watching Hallmark Christmas movies and trying to decide what to eat!
My blessing for today was three lovely ‘visits’ with three people close to my heart. I’m a better person tonight for it!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 30th is:
Log Cabin Day; National Corvette Day; National Meteor Watch Day; National OOTD Day (look it up!!!); National Seashell Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was Soft Pretzel Day. Tomorrow celebrate watching meteors at the cabin! God bless…
Had a few rough hours of restless sleep but managed to make it through calmly. I got dressed about 9am and went outside and weed-whacked, since it was only 66* and cool. Got that all done, showered, and had oatmeal for breakfast.
Chase was sleeping in, so I went creeping around the house getting things done. I started a load of laundry and did a few small things around the house. I still have ironing to do.
We’ve been getting emails and notices about the PENNDOT shut down. I’m trying to stay up to date. Ken called me and I tried to catch him up on a few things. I was walking around outside and saw a bunny in the side yard. I think he came to visit Frosty, who was tucked in and sleeping with Chase.
Got a txt from my former neighbor. She has a new grandbaby! How cute he is and how blessed they are!
I decided I would take advantage of the nice weather so I went out and scrubbed the white fence on my side. I only do that down to where it meets my fence. It always looks really nice when it’s done.
The first flower on the Rose of Sharon popped out! Also a large cluster of blazing stars. That’s it for today!
My blessing for today was that I only needed to take my Ibuprofen one time! But I feel it coming on….
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 29th is:
Hug Holiday; International Day of the Tropics; International Mud Day; Midsummer Day; National Soft Pretzel Day; National Almond Buttercrunch Day; National Camera Day; National Waffle Iron Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Rabbit Day. Tomorrow- celebrate midsummer, although I don’t think it is…. If you find it, take a picture! God bless… (and stay out of the mud.)
PENNDOT/CVR is still down. I did get my passenger tag order, so I could check them in and create the log for distribution. I could not, however, add them to the CVR inventory so that will have to wait.
I left Jeannette and immediately got stuck in construction traffic. Ugh. After 40 minutes I called Joe to tell him I’d be running late, but he didn’t have anything I could do. So as soon as I could, I swung off 30 and went into town.
Getting home was tricky and frustrating. Every street I turned on was either closed, one lane, or at a standstill. I made more twists and turns in Greensburg that a corn maze! Managed to get gas for the Mazda and a sheet of stamps.
Chase is still sleeping and I’ll give him another hour before I wake him. He wants to run back out to the Mall for something he saw on Tuesday – which can be his birthday present!
(** Break)
Chase and I finally went to the Mall for his gift. It’s a stuffed sleeping rabbit from Pokémon. His name is Frosty and he’s a very agreeable chap. He took a short nap then helped me type the Word Garden. Any errors are HIS fault!
We had Chick Fil-A, then went Mini-golfing. Chase won again.
Last night Nate and Chrissy came with us to 814 Lanes for Axe Throwing. That place is huge, and wild and full of kids and adults playing every type of game you can dream up. I walked around taking pictures when I got there.
Took two pictures of the kids — They all seemed to have a good time. Chase said this place was more random than the one in Altoona. That one seemed more geared to recording actual skill levels rather than just computer generated.
We were going to get something to eat and maybe pick another game or two, but the tornado warnings started coming through and they were closing the place down so we had to leave. We’ll try again another time!
My blessing today was finding my home through the crazy construction!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 28th is:
Cream Tea Day; National Rabbit Day; Drive your Corvette to Work Day; National Food Truck Day; National Safer Workplace Day; Paul Bunyan Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Snowflake Day. Tomorrow drive your Corvette to find a food truck, and be safe! God bless…
Today was a lazy start. I read for a while, got a shower, then discovered that Chase was up very early! He said he was readjusting his sleep pattern but I don’t think it worked. It’s 6pm and he’s napping…
So I made French Toast for breakfast, then started with chores. Even though I wasn’t going to clean the whole house I did want to give it a quick wipe. I did the bathrooms and the kitchen and the floors. I emptied the trash, did laundry, and finished the ironing. By then it appeared to be Chase’s nap time, so I made a big pot of potato soup. It seems to keep my stomach calm.
I’m reading IN THE COMPANY OF OTHERS (Jan Karon) but having trouble getting into it – it’s set in Ireland. The characters are all new, the dialect is very different, and I’m having trouble following what’s happening. But I’m just on chapter 4 so I shouldn’t get too frustrated until I’ve read more.
After the soup was done, I changed the yard flag (still had the birthday one up – shows how behind I still am!) and got the mail. Nothing. Now we are waiting on Nate and Chrissy to go Axe Throwing! I’ll probably post that adventure tomorrow!
These are the goblets I won through the Ninth Life Auction. I washed them up and have having iced tea now!
My blessing today was having a whole day at home to catch up and accomplish something!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 27th is:
Decide to be Married Day (No thanks…); Helen Keller Day; National Bingo Day; National Handshake Day; National Ice Cream Cake Day; National Onion Day; National Sunglasses Day; National Work from Home day; National Snowflake Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Soap Day. Tomorrow I’d say have some ice cream cake, but not with onion on it! God bless…
PENNDOT is still down – but I did some filing and prepped some paperwork and headed out. What a crazy mess.
Chase was still sleeping when I got home, so I did a few things around the house and finished book 4 in the Berry Lake Cupcake series. There’s one more book that comes out mid-July. The writer always ends the book with a massive cliff hanger! I’m glad I found the series so late so the wait isn’t that long to finish it!
After lunch Chase and I headed out to run errands. We dropped the return package to Amazon at the UPS store, stopped at the Mall to get a soup dispenser at Bath and Body Works, then headed over to mini-golf.
Chase did really good playing golf! He has a good eye. He had a couple hole-in-ones, and most of his holes were on par. He won, 46-51. I wasn’t on my best game tonight and definitely didn’t get any hole-in-ones!
When we got home, Chase set about digging the hole for the new Butterfly Bush, and I trimmed the Tansy from the Beach Boys sign. So we did good.
For supper I had a few French fries baked in the oven, and Chase had (are you READY for this?) a frozen pizza. Go figure. I told him he’d wake up some morning with round red splotches all over, and not to go outside. He was turning into a pizza and the neighborhood dogs would have him for lunch!
My blessing today was spending time with Chase and getting some tasks done!
PEANUTS thought for the day:
TOMORROW June 26th is:
Forgiveness Day; National Barcode Day; National Soap Day; National Canoe day; National Chocolate Pudding Day; National Day of Joy; National Parchment Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Mailbox Day. Tomorrow let’s be joyful, and forgive! God bless….
This whole PENNDOT cyber breech is crazy. There are all sorts of rumors going around, about what happened and what has to happen to get back up on running. I went to work this morning in Jeannette, but can’t log in and can’t process. I called the Greensburg store and there was no reason to go up there. Wow. Scary.
I was home by 10:30am, and that included stopping at Aldi and getting Chase additional pizza and Oreos. After a quick break I changed clothes, prayed for endurance, and CUT THE GRASS! It was actually a comfortable day, weather wise, and I took my time. Got it all done, then came in and made Poppin-fresh cinnamon rolls. I haven’t had those in years! When Chase got up he ate a bunch, too.
Then I cleaned up the stones going down the walk to the shed. There was a lot of crab grass, and that freaks me out. It actually looks like crabs that are going to reach out and grab my ankle! But it looks so much better, after only less than 3 hours outside.
I snapped some flower pictures, then watered the plants before I came in to finish laundry. I’ll save the ironing for tomorrow. That was enough for today, and I need to get Chase food later, too! We have to figure out when we are going mini-golfing since Chrissy can’t go this week. She’s working two jobs.
My blessing for today was feeling good enough to get outside work done. I was losing sleep over those tasks – literally! So, huge blessing!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 25th is:
National Mailbox Day; Color TV Day; Global Beatles Day; National Camp Counts Day; National Catfish Day; National Strawberry Parfait Day; Please Take My Children to Work Day; National LEON Day – look it up (It’s a fun thing to celebrate!). God bless…
Yesterday’s fake day was National Glad Day. Tomorrow lets celebrate color TV and LEON Day! Fun! God bless…
Chase and I went to Sunday School – he went to his age appropriate class which was good to interact with his peers. Kim and I taught the Rich Young Ruler. They did a ‘sewing’ paper about ‘It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. The boys actually had several interesting thoughts on the subject!
When we got home, Chase immediately took a nap. I ate half an egg salad sandwich then went outside to work on weeding between the patio stones. Got the weeds all pulled but it started to rain so I couldn’t clean it off.
It rained and poured and the drops bounced off the driveway!
Chase woke up when I came in, so I made him Quilla-Dillas (quesadilla) and took a break. I did want to get one more thing done, so I scrubbed the 8 hanging baskets that I want to use for the Loyalhanna Review party in July. They were very dirty and had black loomie soil stuck to them. I squirted Dawn dish detergent in them all and hosed them down. They came out really nice. I will put books in the basket part and a bow on the hanger – a garden of words!
Todd’s message this morning was about sexual identity. It was very interesting and I thought he did a good job of presenting the truth. If you’re struggling with this, or know someone who is, check out today’s message on Hempfield Church of Christ you-tube or web site.
My blessing today was feeling good enough to be at church and actually accomplishing something this in the afternoon!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 24th is:
International Fairy Day; National Glad Day; National Pralines Day; Swim a Lap Day; Insect Week; Rabbit Week; National Patch Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Amazon Day. Tomorrow let’s celebrate rabbits! God bless…
Today was a slow lazy start. I changed the sheets, washed 2 loads, then around noon went to Pet Smart to pick up my auction items from Ninth Life.
I called Fantastic Sams and got a hair appointment for Chase. He got a lot cut off. He said it felt good and he was happy with it. It will take a while to train it to lay flat; it’s been very long for a very long time!
We stopped and got Chick Fil-A on the way home. I ate about half and stuck the rest in the fridge.
Last night Chase and I trimmed a Rose of Sharon down to below the fence line, and I cut back the daisies and cosmos. It looks much neater.
Chase was amazed to find an Oreo in his stash that was put together backwards. I think it still tasted the same…
I ordered a new soap dispenser for the kitchen and it came today. I think that’s a chore for tomorrow. I asked Chase what he wanted to eat – and he said frozen pizza! That’s 3 days in a row!
Kath had a camp meeting at Hempfield Church, and Lynn took her for a drive in her convertible. They were having a big and rich time!
My blessing today is staying inside with the unbearable heat outside!
PEANUTS Thought for the Day:
TOMORROW June 23rd is:
International Olympic Day; International Widows’ Day; Let It Go Day; National Amazon Day; National Hydration Day; National Pink Day; National Typewriter Day; Fish are Friends not Food Day.
Yesterday’s fake day was National Ivy Day. Tomorrow I’ll celebrate typewriters! God bless…
