Another beautiful morning, with a balmy outside walk. Successfully worked at both stores, got gas for the car, then came straight home to a lunch of veggies soup. Talked to Kelly, who drafted me for a work day in her workshop, possibly next week or the week after. I told her I’d be happy to, as long as I didn’t have to notarize anything! 🙂 Ron got here about 7pm, and it was so good to see him! It will be a busy weekend, but at least we had a quiet evening, sharing tea and the cinnamon streusel quick bread that I made. Welcome back, Ron!
If I don’t have regular postings in the next several days, it’s because I am opening the BB&B (Burke Bed and Breakfast) for several guests! I should have time, but if not don’t be alarmed! I’ll post updates when I can! 🙂
Today I will share Scott’s message from First Baptist – Until he calls your name. Mary felt lost at the empty tomb, but Jesus found her and called her name. We are lost until He calls our name. Jesus says our name like no one else says it; He will come to us and draw us to Him. From the cross Jesus calls our name; from the empty tomb Jesus calls our name – and we recognize Him. The only thing keeping Jesus from returning is that he is seeking the lost – He wants no one to perish. Jesus takes residence in our hearts. We will be called by a new name, one that we don’t even know yet, but when He calls to us we will know Him.
On this day in 1820 the famous Greek statue, Venus de Milo was discovered. In 1879 milk was sold in glass bottles for the first time, and in 1983 David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear in front of a live audience. In 1986 Clint Eastwood was elected mayor of Carmel California. Birthdays: Ponce de Leon – Spanish explorer – was born in 1460, Mary Pickford, Canadian actress, in 1892, Betty Ford, US First lady in 1918. Elisha Otis, American founder of the Otis Elevator Co and inventor of safety device to keep elevators from falling, died in 1861 at age 50. Pablo Picasso, Spanish painter, died in 1973, Claire Trevor, American actress, died at age 91 in 2000, and Margaret Thatcher, British Prime Minister, died in 2013. And also in 2013 Annette Funicello – American actress (Mickey Mouse Club, Beach Blanket Bingo) – died at age 70 from multiple sclerosis complications.
