Yesterday was busy – Laundry, sheets, groceries, Di stopped — then Nate popped in for his Birthday card and Tuna Casserole. We had a nice little visit – which is rare! Then I had about 15 minutes to get ready for a picnic/cookout at our preacher’s house (Todd and Heather). The issue there was that it was so cold and windy! I had several layers plus a winter coat. You could still feel the wind. It was a nice outing, and lots of good food. He had pulled pork and I seriously never had pork that delicious. There were about a dozen side dishes and that many desserts.

Tonia trying to stay warm!

Fresh wood on the fire.
Heather has done amazing things with solar lights in their back yard, around the house and by the driveway. I think she must not have been raised in the country. But it is very dark up there on the hill by the tree line with no street lights. I loved her lights! She has even inspired me with what I could do here.

It gets dark back there!
But the company (there was about 40 of us) and the fire pits were very fun and we really had a great evening.

Chatting and keeping warm.
Today Todd’s message was (again) from James – and about the tongue. Very good reflection on how important our words and speech is, and even our attitude. When we get up in the morning we have to decide if we will be happy or sad, kind or grumpy, focused or lazy. Start each day with JOY. It’s up to us and we can make a difference. Speaking is serious business and words are powerful. What we say reveals what’s in our heart and how others perceive us. And remember that we cannot tame the tongue – we need help – we need Jesus (Psalm 141:3)
