Ten months from today is Christmas Day – miss you, Bud! Although it’s still cold today, it’s sunny and bright. Warms the spirit! I had a tangle of tasks at both stores this morning, but I find that I like doing things that make me stop and think and reason things through. And mostly I like solving problems. Nate & Dave stopped on the way home from work and took the purple couch down to the shed. So now the Buick is tucked back in the garage.

Tonight was FAFF night at my place. We had our facetime visit with mom, and when Paul said hello she really perked up! She has always thought the world of Paul and he could always cheer her up and make her smile. We watched the first half of the movie, then stopped for dinner: Stouffer’s single-serving lasagna, garlic twists (bread sticks) and salad – with cookies for dessert. Then we watched the rest of the movie. We each got interrupted several times with phone calls but moved right on through and had a great evening. Again, it’s fun to be able to share experiences and actually TALK to people!

Today I will share Micah’s message from Old Mahoning: Just do it! We need to work to serve and please God, not men. We must press on, be diligent, and finish the race. 1) Categories – in relationships – we must practice submission, love, obedience, and work hard. 2) Commandments – Whatever you do, do with your whole heart. Worship is our every day life, not just church. Certainly we will receive rewards for serving God, and reap the blessings, as he is a good master. We will be repaid for wrong, as well. We all have the same standard (Bible) although all do not embrace it. Vengeance and Justice belong to the Lord. Remember that you can’t follow God accidentally – it’s an act of will. So take action – and just DO it!

On this day in 1793 the first US cabinet meeting was held at George Washington’s home. In 1836 Samuel Colt patented the first multi-shot revolving-cylinder revolver, enabling the firearm to be fired multiple times without reloading. In 1862 First Legal Tender Act 1862 is passed by the US Congress, authorizing the United States Note (greenback) into circulation, the first fiat paper money that was legal tender in America. In 1901 US Steel corporation was organized by J P Morgan. Pierre Renoir (Painter and Sculptor), was born in 1841, and George Harrison (Beatles) in 1943. Christopher Wren (architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Wren Building – College of William and Mary in Williamsburg VA) died in 1723 at age 90, and Tennessee Williams (playwright) died at age 71 in 1983. And just got word that Bob Kudzma, former KDKA-TV weatherman, passed away today at age 81. One of the joys of his life (other than the weather) was driving school bus! He was chief meteorologist for 34 years with KDKA.
