Rain, rain, rain. I though I’d need an ark! But— don’t have to shovel rain! I dropped off a loaf of bread to Kath, then ran into Dollar Tree for a quick minute. Came home and paid the first of March’s bills online, then put up a few things for St. Patrick’s day. Had a grilled cheese on homemade bread for lunch. Perfect!

Today I will share a new message – Kittanning First Baptist (A friend of Diane’s attends there, and they have a strong youth group). Today was youth Sunday and they were in charge of the whole service. The message was given by Melissa Duvall about comfort and peace. Jesus spoke words of comfort to his disciples, even though he also needed comfort. There is more to life than this world. We have an inheritance – faith is greater worth than gold. We are promised no more pain, death, tears – we’re promised peace and rest. God is creating a new heaven and a new earth; look forward to it. Our faith can encourage ourselves but others, as well. We live by faith, not by sight. Our struggles are not against this world, but against powers of darkness. Worrying solves nothing. ‘Do not fear; I will help! Take my hand in faith.’ The peace of God will guard our hearts.

On this day in 1784 John Wesley chartered the Methodist Church, and in 1787 the charter establishing what is now the University of Pittsburgh was granted. In 1854 the republican party was formally organized, and in 1983 the final episode of MASH aired with 125 million US viewers; in 1984 the 26th Grammy Awards saw Michael Jackson win 8! Mario Andretti was born in 1940, and in 1797 Mr. Ed (the talking horse) died – that was Bud’s favorite show, and he’d tell me stories about watching it and would laugh and laugh! Paul Harvey (The REST of the story) died at age 90 in 2009.
