It was a long day of waiting, more so for Kelly (and Matt) than for me. But she did well with the surgery and they removed the tumor and the part of the kidney it was attached to. She was very tired and a little nauseous when Matt txt me which is understandable. I spent the day cleaning and packing and getting ready for my weekend with the boys, hoping to be of some help so their lives can be more comfortable and normal! I can sort of see this being me after 5 days of boy-focus!!!

I’m claiming that power!!!

I switched the Peanuts calendar from August to September. I had some blank squares and put stickers on them to designate special days, like Labor day and doctor’s appointment and party day. September is all set.

I really appreciated Kyle’s message (Hempfield church). He talked about the last six months of being sequestered at home, making the space a play area, shared office space for him and Janet, library, school space, craft area, in addition to everything else. The chaos can build up until it closes in! We think we can fix or solve all the chaotic issues ourselves and make a difference, but it’s not ours to solve! We accept the burden pushed on us by the world when it wasn’t supposed to be ours to carry. We often don’t do anything to stop the idea that we are to fix what is wrong: Chaos at home, stress of the world’s political and racial scenes. We try to ‘buy’ our way out. But thankfully God offers a way to defend ourselves against the world: 1) Rejoice in the Lord always 2) Pray continually 3) Focus on the good (whatever is pure, true, right, etc). Don’t be anxious about ANYTHING!. God is present in every facet of our life and is at work in every circumstance. There is always a silver lining. When things get hard, GOD can handle it!

That is so good for me to remember and focus on – I feel like I am the only answer to so many things going on around me, when it’s not mine to solve or decide. I can let God use me, but it’s not for me to resolve. Let GOD handle it!

On this day in 1666 the Great Fire of London destroyed 80% of the city. In 1864 Sherman captured and burned Atlanta, and in 1901 Theodore Roosevelt said “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Big Crosby had his first solo radio debut in 1931, and in 1940 the Great Smokey Mountains National Park was dedicated. Anne Frank was sent to Auschwitz in 1944. J R R Tolkien (Lord of the Rings; the Hobbit) died at age 81 in 1973, and Bob Denver (Gilligan) died in 2005 at age 70

TOMORROW, September 3 is:

I am going to take Kyle’s message (God’s message actually) to heart and be a willing servant but let God handle the details! Have a great week; I’ll post when I can! God bless.
