I didn’t really do anything special for St. Patrick’s Day. Nothing green; nothing shamrock-ish. But that’s ok.

Kath stopped after her doctor’s visit – she is improving and moving in the right direction. We chatted for a few minutes, and I mentioned that my chore for today was to wash windows. I think she was ready to feel my forehead and take my temperature… “In a RAIN storm?” Well, Yes. I needed to clean the tracks that the windows slide on, and I wanted to get the grime off the windows before I put the Easter decorations up. I was fortunate that the rain stopped so I could do all the windows and doors without getting wet. Rain or no rain, they look a lot better!

Cleaning windows

Every time I clean the living room window, there is a little nest-like thing of dried grass stuck between the screen and the track. I never see any bugs, etc, so I have no idea what is building it. Always in the same window – far right, living room – no matter what I do. Wiping, spraying, cleaning, it doesn’t matter. It’s a puzzle.

What IS this?

Chrissy wanted me to make a deposit in her managed savings account, so I zipped over to the bank after I finished my chores. The gas terminal by Willow Crossing Road put up new outlets and they were both blazing! I could see them from the road above my house. Only thing left on the list tonight is supper and ironing! Tomorrow I hope to start making the house look festive for Easter.

  1. Genevieve Morris says:

    Marge,
the grass is likely the nest of a grass carrying wasp. They lay their eggs within the grass and there’s a cocoon that can overwinter. I’ve seen adults bringing crickets and little grasshoppers for the pupae to eat in summer. Harmless and actually considered a beneficial pollinator.
