I am not going to make an official post tonight. It’s been a day, and I had a few unexpected issues to deal with that sucked up all my time and energy. But I’m organized and ready for whatever tomorrow ushers in – so have a lovely evening and God bless! 🙂
I knew I’d have deals at Jeannette, and also I had a call from Mike P. I did the deals in Jeannette but they were both puzzles so it took a while. Then Ken, Sir Regis and I had a long discussion about Ground Hogs, Snakes and tiny critters. So far I’m thankful I haven’t seen a snake! Barry saw one last week in the shop downstairs!
Since Mike wasn’t ready for me, I went down to L&L Fleatique. I haven’t been there for a while. I took them a little Jesus. I seldom find things that pull me in at these places, but today I did! I found another little Beany Baby skunk – the last one I saw was $50.00. This was WAY less.
The little one laying down – the one with blue eyes is Mr. Fresh’s girlfriend. What shall we name her?
I found a little white pitcher/vase that was on clearance, and also a Sunflower wooden sign for the Crooks room.
Mini vase/pitcher
Blessed sunflowers!
I have been looking at Dough Bowls for several years – today there was one left in the little shop, and I told myself if it was less than $15 I’d get it. And it was much less! So those were my fun purchases, something I seldom do!
Once I got home and had a salad, I changed clothes and went out to mow. That was originally to be my Friday chore, but with the impending rain I hurried to get it done this afternoon. Tomorrow I’ll concentrate on inside chores and groceries.

TOMORROW June 6th is:
D-Day; National Applesauce Cake Day; National Donut Day; National Drive-In Movie day; National Eyewear Day; National Gardening Exercise Day; National Higher Education Day; National Yo-Yo Day; World Pest Day.
Do you mean like my neighbor is a pest? Or maybe a yo-yo. Rege and I just had an interesting conversation about eyewear. I should maybe get donuts at the store tomorrow! I doubt if I’ll be gardening if it rains. God bless…
Today was a mix of chores and chores, and … oh, chores. I did get a lovely break in the middle of the day. Kelly brought Chase and Logan up as they had an appointment with a certification ‘officer’ to review their school year’s classes, results, and grades. The ‘officer’ will approve the portfolio and record it with the state. So now, Logan is an official graduate and Chase is officially a junior. Can you even BELIEVE that?? Once they finished their certification, we met at Chick Fil-A and had a celebratory lunch. So it was fun to visit and celebrate. Don’t they look thrilled?
Logan and Chase
The bulk of my morning and early afternoon I spent cleaning. This time of year my floors get really cruddy, as I’m in and out all day long and drag grass clippings and law debris inside every single time – door mat or no door mat!
I DO have door mats!
Once I finished cleaning and doing laundry (towels), I went outside. My first chore was to trim two big dead branches out of the lilac bush by the fences on the hill. I saw them yesterday but it got too late to tackle them. They were about 9 feet long and an inch or two thick. Luckily I have this handy hand saw that I can cut with. It’s easy to use, but truthfully I’m not good with tools. I finally got the limbs cut down and dragged them up to the driveway, but trimming them down to acceptable size for the trash was another matter. I got them cut and stuffed in a paper lawn bag, but I ended up bruising my arm (poking it with the dead branches) in the meantime.
I’m always poking or jabbing myself somehow!
Next I dead-headed the iris beds – and there are about 6 of them throughout the yard. That didn’t take long. In the meantime I realized that my recycle can was FILTHY – so I squirted Dawn in it and hosed it out. It’s clean now, too.
Clean Recycle Can
My new neighbor doesn’t keep their front flower beds very neat, and that’s fine, but there is a little mini rose bush that is getting buried under taller plants. So while I was outside I snipped a little piece off and put it in a glass jar. I’m hoping I can root it, stick it in the soil with the jar overtop, and start a new plant. We’ll see how that goes. A lot of those plants in the front bed came from my gardens!
Hoping this works….
I only saw Ed out early this morning, stretched out on his belly in the grass nibbling breakfast. Fred wasn’t out at all that I saw.
Ed – or is that Fred??
I forgot to post yesterday that my boss, Sir Rege, has a new grandson! His youngest child – Kelly – and her husband had a baby boy yesterday early morning. His name is Justin John Premich Jr.Congrats to the family!

TOMORROW June 5th is:
Hot Air Balloon Day; National Gingerbread Day; National Moonshine Day; National Sorry I Was on a Boat Day; National Veggie Burger Day; Sausage Roll Day; Thank You Day; National Ketchup Day; National Start Over Day.
No ketchup but Heinz. So there. Thank you! Kathy makes a really good gingerbread cookie – it’s Mom’s recipe. And Hot Air Balloon! When the kids were little, there was an empty field behind our plan. There were dozens and dozens of balloons that went over the house. We would hear them, jump in the car (PJ’s and all) and chase them down! The kids loved them! So, let’s start over… God bless.
My web site is navigated by WORD PRESS. Every so often they do updates and change a bunch of things. So yesterday they changed the entire set-up! I’m struggling to find the right way to do things. The worst of it right now is that I can’t figure out how to separate the pictures and put words or spaces between them. I’ll work on that, but for now it’s confusing! 🙂
Since I didn’t have to work today, I decided to make a list and get some things done today. After breakfast I went outside and cut the grass. Although I did see Fred and Ed when I got up, as soon as I walked out the door they disappeared. And I did NOT leave my garage door open, as I usually do when I work outside. That was too risky. But the day was sunny and warm and the grass looks really nice.
After mowing, I took an iced-tea break. My neighbor Al walked over and showed me pictures of the milk can he painted a few years ago. It’s beautiful! He painted scenes on it like Aunt Dolly used to do. I was glad he shared the pictures with me. I just spray painted mine purple and put a stickie decal on the front!
Once I cooled down and put the mower away, I got my trimmers out, my kneeling pad, and a huge trash bag. I spent about an hour trimming back the lilacs along the fence. They always grow through the fence to the other side, and make it hard to mow. In addition, it doesn’t look very neat. So that’s another job finished. While I was at it I cleaned up a few dead branches on the rose bushes on the hill. So that side looks pretty nice. I also cleaned up the little steps under the top deck.
Since there were no eggs or birds in the nest, I knocked it down from the light and threw it away. Then I hosed the light off.
By then it was time for lunch, so I made a salad and a piece of garlic toast and read a chapter in my book.
My next chore was to scrub the back decks, patio and front porch, as well as the furniture. I was surprised the difference it made. I also turned the a/c on inside. It was time to put the furnace to ‘nap’ position for the summer. But now I’m chilly!
Back Deck, patio and front porch.
Autmn sent me a few pictures of Cameron playing at their neighborhood splash pad. He was having a great time! Look at that smile!

TOMORROW June 4th is:
Audacity to Hope Day; Global Running Day; International Corgi Day; National Cheese Day; National Christian T-Shirt day; National Hug Your Cat Day; National Old Maids Day; Shopping Cart Day; National Safe Day.
So – Old Maids — the card game or the ladies? I have a few Christian T-Shirts. Good or bad, I don’t run anymore. I’ll be as safe as I can – and I don’t really need a shopping cart tomorrow! God bless…
I had my eye appointment this morning. Everything is fine, and even though there wasn’t a significant change I could order glasses. Which I did. It will be a few weeks until they are ready. I chose a – are you ready for this? – purple pair!
Forgot to mention that yesterday I changed the PEANUTS Calendar to June!
I had several calls from work, so I just went straight down there afterwards. We cleared up everything that was on my desk and also the questions they had. I’ve been hungry for a
burger so I stopped at the store and bought 4 items. And yes, I had a burger for lunch!
I had several conversations/emails with my illustrator for the new Flax book. I think we are on the right track. Now to wait for the OK from the Flax Committee.

When I got up this morning, Fred and Ed (two groundhogs) were sunning themselves. Fred was on the front deck, and Ed was in front of the shed. But I haven’t seen them again since I got home, and I was working in the yard until just now, and it’s almost 6pm.

Fred on the Deck.
The grass did not need cut, so I spent all afternoon cleaning up the beds lining the driveway, the ones in the front, and the side where the roses are. That was a nice afternoon’s work. And that’s it for today. But I didn’t know what this green bark was on the tree…

TOMORROW June 3rd is:
Insect Repellent Awareness Day; Love Conquers All Day; National Egg Day; Repeat Day; World Bicycle Day.
I don’t think love conquers anything! I like it, but it takes a lot more! I like eggs, too. I like eggs, too. (See what I did there?) God bless…
A new month – lots happening that will be fun and exciting. Tomorrow – I have my annual appointment at the Eye Center.
Today after church Mary and I went to the Museum of American Art – they had a vintage market. We walked around but really, a lot of what the venders were selling were clothing. I was surprised at that. We didn’t purchase anything, but I found a fun photo frame. We were tempted by the hot dogs (it WAS lunch time!) but $10 for hot dog and chips was a little past our budget.
I love this frame!
When I came home, I had fruit with a scoop of ice cream, then started on my afternoon project. Before I turn on all the ceiling fans for summer I wanted to wipe down the blades and the light shades. All done!
Cleaned all four fans, plus the bathroom light fixture.
I went to walk outside to shake the dust catcher and found that I had two baby groundhogs in my yard. One was peeking out from under the deck, and the other was under the shed. I’m not a fan of groundhogs, but I am intimidated by them running around my yard even less. Have to do some research as to how to get them out.
Little bugger’s watching me.Now he’s just sunning himself on the warm stone.
Then I got the hose and sprayed down the side of the house, as those pesky robins are making a mess again. I’m tempted to knock it down – have not seen the bird in the nest at all. Ugh.
Hosed the house – didn’t touch the nest.
I took a break and made myself a little pouch to carry my notebook and pen for taking notes for sermons and class. Very easy, very cute, and very useful!
My little pouch
I took some pictures of the Red Hot Pokers, and the bottom yard with all the flowers blooming.

TOMORROW June 2nd is:
American Indian Citizenship Day; National First Ladies Day; National Bubba Day; National I Love My Dentist Day (That’s a little strong…); National Leave Work Early Day; National Rocky Road Day; International Volkswagen Bus Day; National Rotisserie Chicken Day.
Kathy will be excited about the First Ladies Day. I’m not sure I can go so far as to say LOVE where my dentist is concerned, but I do appreciate him. I can’t leave work early tomorrow because I’m not working! God bless…
Logan’s Grad party was so nice! It was held at their church’s Family Life Center. There is so much room, plus a huge kitchen, and lots of activities for the kids to do. I got there about 11:30 (I made good time) and helped Kelly get everything out of her car and mine. Then Matt set up the coolers and stacked the drinks inside, while Ma went for ice.
Matt chillin’ …. the drinks.
Kelly for sure has an army of ‘people’ around her — her PEOPLE. And that’s wonderful since I am too far away to be an everyday help. Aunt Kimmie helped set out the food, along with another lady that loves to help in the kitchen for anything. Her cookie trays were like artwork! I know Leann helped, and Shayla and Carrie were everywhere at once! Great ladies…
Felicia the kitchen lady!Kelly – always on the move.Centerpieces
It took me about an hour to ice 400 cinnamon rolls – but they are my family’s favorites and a lot of people fussed over them. I sent a few home with Autmn and Nate and there were still lots left over – they were, obviously, made for Logan! But the cookies were beautiful!
Look at these beautiful cookies!
Logan had a Harry Potter cap – I wouldn’t have known had I not been told!
And there was also a journal Bible on the table by the card box. Everyone was to highlight their favorite verse for him and write a little word of advise in the journal margin. My favorite for him was I Corinthians 2:9. I clung to that verse many times when I lost sight of my blessings!

They had bunches of cupcakes that Carrie made, chips with about 5 different dips, and lots of veggies and a cheese and crackers charcuterie board.
Yummy!Pepperoni rolls, veggie pizza, veggies and dip, snack trays.
Nate got there about 3pm or so, and then Autmn, Noah and Cameron came about 3:30. I got to meet Logan’s and Chase’s special friends, plus a lot of the people Kelly talks a lot about.

I got to meet Chloe, Clairese, Craig, and a bunch of others.

There was another party in the center at 6pm so that gave us an hour to clean up and exit the space. I stayed until everything was ready for the next group. Logan was moving his party upstairs to the ‘Upper Room’ to play table games and video games, eat more snacks, and order pizza with his closest friends. I’m sure they had a great time extending the party.
I got home about 7:10pm and got everything cleaned up and put away. That’s enough time to unwind and get organized for Sunday. And I found this crazy quote that I’m sure Jen would love!
Hits pretty close home for her!

I’m not much for olives or nail polish. I can surely find something nice to say and not be an Oscar the Grouch. Have a happy June 1st! God bless…
Basically I just kept pace today – no big projects to do. After breakfast I started a laundry load, then headed to Pinnacle. I was meeting my nephew and his son to do title work for a Jeep they bought. Isaac is very excited, as his graduation is tonight. Congrats, Isaac!
I stopped at Aldi and Walmart to get a few items, but only need about 10 things. Once I got home I made myself a few leftovers for lunch and started on the Skunk Hollow story for next weekend.
All but two of us….
I answered emails and packed everything in the car for Logan’s party tomorrow in Ohio. And that brings me current. So I did keep busy all day but nothing exciting! Tomorrow I’m sure I’ll have pictures to share and more exciting things from the party.
Congrats, Logan!

TOMORROW May 31st is:
Autonomous Vehicle Day; Dragon Boat Festival Day; National Fisherfolks Day; National Macaroon Day; National Save Your Hearing day; National Smile Day; National Speak in Complete Sentences Day; World No Tobacco Day; World Parrot Day.
Logan’s Grad Party! I’ll be there all day. I don’t fish, but I’ll try to smile a lot. Have a lovely weekend – hoping for DRY! God bless…
I set out first thing this morning determined to stay focused and positive. Thankfully I slept much better and felt refreshed when I got up.
Is she hugging her cat a day EARLY?
My follow up CT scan was in Latrobe, and that went very well. The technicians and nurses were very friendly and efficient and I was out of there even before my scheduled time. I buzzed into Walmart (next door) but didn’t see what I wanted. Not very often I go to Walmart and don’t spend any money! When I came home I looked on my health portal and the CT Scan results were posted. All is well.
Machine looks like this…
Kelly was looking for white bowls for chips (Logan’s party) and I found one at Dollar Tree so that was a plus. I stopped and got gas in the Jeep on the way to Pinnacle. I did have a few things to do, but also spent time chatting with both Barry and Sir Rege. Rege got bit – the doctor thinks it’s a spider bite – and it’s probably the ugliest thing I have ever seen! Barry and I were chatting about getting the best night’s sleep. I was there for about an hour and a half.
Night!!!
I felt unmotivated to mow, but I ate half a sandwich, a few bites of popcorn, and suited up! It was warmer than I thought, and I took a few breaks. I should have gone inside and changed again but I just kept going. Once I finished mowing, I cleaned the mower (twice in a row!) and hosed off the driveway. I had some weed-whacking to do up front, then swept the walks. It felt very good to be done!
Lawn looks tidy!
I have been knocking the bird nest down every few hours. I knocked it off the light last night, and cleaned up the mess on the deck. When I came home from work today – I found this. Bummer…
I took a few flower pictures — just because!
