I can’t believe it’s Friday already, and that the day is almost done. It was a full day but nothing really exciting to write about. After a shower and breakfast (a small slice of my coffee cake!) I did a load of laundry. I also managed to pick up some sticks and twigs in the yard. My neighbor cut his grass for the second time this week. I’m not ready yet!

Cinnamon coffee cake from yesterday

Even though there are predictions of rain, wind and even flurries I decided to tackle cleaning the windows. I didn’t concentrate too much on the runners or the sills. I just wanted to be able to see clearly outside! It didn’t take long and I’m excited about it feeling clean. It does still smell like vinegar in the house. With all the high-tech cleaning products and procedures I still use the old-fashioned vinegar and water and paper towels!

The secret: Vinegar!
Clean!

For lunch I had my carrots sautéed in brown sugar and some cauliflower. Folded the laundry, than went for a walk. Every day I find a new little patch of spring flowers blooming.

Crocus on Seminole Drive

I also printed out my bank statement and will balance my checkbook after I’m done here. I do have a few emails to answer, but first I headed over to the store to get a new multi-plug outlet. The old one seemed to me malfunctioning now and then. I wonder if that is why my Firestick quit working?

New outlet with circuit breaker

Did I mention that Logan was able to install my new Roku and download/set up all my apps and stations? That was such a blessing! It’s basically the same principle as the Firestick with a few differences. The main one that trips me up is that the volume and mute buttons are on the side of the remote, and when I pick it up I always manage to change the volume or mute the sound! I’ll get it eventually.

Back to work this morning. I was distressed to find out that Sir Rege is home sick. Hoping he feels better quickly! Sending get well wishes his way!

I had the last of the left-overs for a quick lunch, then rooted through my material to find scraps for new rice bags. Kelly asked for a few to replace her old ones, and Autmn wanted one for her sister Summer’s birthday. I was showing Diane my projects and offered to make her one. She’s a fellow Snoopy (Woodstock, really) fan so I found the perfect piece for her.

Summer’s

Kelly’s still need filled with rice.

In between doing the ironing and putting away laundry I mixed up and baked a coffee cake from a box mix. It was one of those Krusteaz mixes and it turned out great. I sampled a little piece with a cup of tea mid-afternoon.

It was a good thing to take a walk after the piece of cake. It was cool enough to keep me moving and burn off some calories. I did see a few bunches of daffodils blooming in the neighborhood but mine aren’t yet.

I still have a few emails to answer, cards to write out, and I need to catch up on my journal writing since the weekend. That will officially finish the day.

Kelly & I thought today would be a laid-back day but we ended up being busy all morning! We lazed around in our beds until almost 8am – but we both needed a little down time. After breakfast she got a txt from her friend Trent, who wanted to purchase a raffle ticket for a gun. It’s to support the 4-H Shooting Sports club that Kelly helps sponsor. So we drove (through the rain) up to his workplace and handled that.

4-H Shooting Sports Logo | Shooting sports, Sports, 4 h

While we were out, Kelly popped into Aldi and got a few bags of chocolate chips. She is the official cookie baker on request, and she gets a lot of requests! The recipe she has calls for milk chocolate chips, and I only buy semi-sweet. I think she bought 8 bags! That’s a lot of cookies!

How do they compare to Hershey or Toll House chocolate chips : r/aldi

So we came home, fed the boys, then mixed up a batch of cookies. There is a 4-H meeting that she promised to take cookies to. The recipe makes a LOT of cookies! In between making the cookies we washed several loads of clothes and she packed up her carry bags and got the car partly loaded. We fed the boys again, she had some leftovers, and the last cookies came out of the oven just as they had to leave. Logan had class and they had to be in Washington at 2:30pm.

And she took every last one of them with her!!!

After they left I grabbed food, then started in cleaning the house. Even though it was later than I normally start, I kept at it until I finished. Washed more clothes, took the trash up to the road, and that, my friends, was my day! Now to relax and read a bit.

Mistletoe & Mischief (A Frosty Season Series Book 3)

As for yesterday, here are some pictures from our craziness. When we were at Joanne Fabrics I was looking at the holiday material. The Easter choices made me want to buy something – but I didn’t really have anything I wanted to sew right now. Kelly asked for new rice bags, as did Autmn, so I see that in my future!

After we picked Chris up and took her home, we came back here and fed the boys (we do that a lot!) Noah dropped Autmn and Cameron off here at the house as I was leaving for my dermatologist appointment (which turned out just fine). We played with Cameron for a while. He likes sitting in his new seat, and is fascinated with his little elephant. He sat on my lap and watched Mickie Mouse Clubhouse for a while on Kelly’s phone.

MM Clubhouse

Kelly took charge and got him to take a little nap – he snuggled up to the cow pillow and took a nice rest. See how he’s holding the cow’s ‘hand’? While he was sleeping the girls popped over and the house got pretty busy with the them here and the two boys playing their video games.

Another afternoon project was pretzel bites which Kelly made from sourdough starter. They were a lot of work but wow were they yummy! She made two huge trays of cinnamon bites and we ate every last one!

I went outside for something and realized that I had three more crocuses blooming.

When Cameron woke up he fed himself a bottle while Kelly and Autmn cut out letters for my Sunday School bulletin board. So that’s done for Sunday. It’s now 10:30pm and I’m glad to be done with everything!

Today was totally crazy from beginning to end! After breakfast and showers Kelly and I went over to Joanne Fabrics as she was looking for a certain type of 4-H material. They did have some but not enough of the right kind.

This was what she wanted but there was only a yard – she needed 10 yards.

Chase txt us that he was out of Goldfish (his main food staple) so we zipped into Walmart and got some for him. We had to pick Chrissy up at school at 11 and made it there with a few minutes to spare. We dropped her off at her house after a quick stop at Youngwood Dunkin’ Donut for an iced coffee for her.

I’ll go into the rest of the day’s activities tomorrow. Let it suffice to say that there were people coming and going all day here! More on all that tomorrow – but it’s almost 8pm and we need to feed the boys and finish cleaning up the kitchen!

As Aunt Hazel used to say, today is the most commanding day of the year! March Forth!

March 4th. March forth. March 4, Leap Of Faith, Support Group, Moving ...

There were several deals in Jeannette, and an out-of-state transaction that I helped Ken with. Then I filed titles in Greensburg and helped Joe file the MV27B online. From there I stopped to make a bank deposit, then had to pop into my dentist office. I had a rough spot behind my top front tooth. They fixed that and submitted a claim to my insurance and I headed home.

After throwing a load of laundry in the washer, I had toast for lunch. I pealed potatoes and have them soaking for mashed potatoes later. Defrosted a package of frozen corn, set the table and answered a few emails. Now I just have to wait until Kelly, Logan and Chase arrive, plus Mark. I will probably post about that tomorrow.

Diane sent me pictures of some crocus she found while walking her neighborhood this morning, and I noticed a lone little crocus blooming my my rose bushes on the side of my house. I love to see them – the first bloomers of spring (or pre-spring). Soon, very soon, it will be time for our crocus tea! The girls are trying to pick a date.

In Sunday School the boys (Max, Jackson, and Cody) learned about the Ten Commandments. They had much more to add to the lesson than I was prepared to explain! But really they were good and seemed to enjoy learning. Todd’s message was the first in a series based in Matthew 23 – he called it the ‘Woes’! Basically we just need to beware of being ‘pretenders’ and seek our own relationship with Jesus.

Let’s jump back to yesterday since I didn’t actually post yesterday. Most of my morning was spent in putting up St. Patrick’s Day decorations. There’s a lot more but I didn’t document them – yet. Here are a few photos:

I picked up Autmn and Cameron about noon, and Autmn put the window stickees up on all the windows and mirrors. She was very creative. Here are two photos.

I was happy to have some baby time! We played and ate and napped and sang. He likes his little teething wafers, and is holding his own bottle! How can this be! He’s five months old today!

After taking the ‘kids’ back to Jaime’s, I got ready for the play. I went with Deb and Jim to Latrobe High School’s production of The Wizard of Oz. It was great! One of the best plays I’ve seen in quite a while! I know Abigail (Glinda the good witch) and Elise (a munchkin, a poppy, and several other support parts) from Hempfield Church. They are both in the praise band. All the actors/actresses were wonderful – Dorothy and the Scarecrow were my favorites after Glinda!

Today after church it was beautiful weather – 70*!! I changed clothes and worked outside for about an hour – I changed the outdoor flags, then was ‘kicking around’ the stump in the corner of the bottom yard and knocked it over! It was too heavy to pick up, so I rolled it into a black trash bag and then into my garden cart and took it up to the road for the trash. Easy! I trimmed my Pinky-Winky Hydrangea, then cut back the cat mint that finally died over the winter.

Hauling the stump around

The daffodils are in bud, and I have a cluster of about a dozen hyacinths that will be beautiful when they all bloom together. I had some ‘company’ for a while – a red bird in the tree that followed me around for a few minutes.

After a quick lunch (a bowl of Cheerios with bananas) I drove down to Buncher Park in Youngwood and took a long walk – almost two miles, which is long for these days. I took a lot of pictures.

This is an unofficial post! After my usual changing/washing sheets, shower, breakfast — I got the St. Patrick’s Day decorations out. I was half-way through that when Autmn txt me that she was ready for and her Cameron to come over for a few hours. I just now took them back home, got ready to leave, and am heading out to a local school’s presentation of The Wizard of Oz. We know Glenda the Good Witch! So I will catch up with decoration pictures (Autmn finished decorating for me!) and play hi-lights tomorrow. Have a great Sunday and God bless!

I started my day (and the month of March) walking into the Pulmonary Lab at Westmoreland Hospital. The test was fairly easy, un-intimating, and fairly quick. I expect the results next week.

Window art at the hospital – sorry about the light reflection!

After testing, I stopped for groceries and was still home before 9am. Walmart was fully stocked and basically empty of people, so that’s a pretty good time to go shopping! But I am not a morning person so I don’t see it happening very often.

I jumped right into my day, having a cup of tea (I was afraid to have one before the tests because I didn’t want to interrupt with bathroom breaks!) and then mixing up bread. After the last several times attempting homemade bread I was a little intimidated, but it mixed easily and smoothly. I knew when it was baking that it would be yummy, and it was. That was supper!

Diane sent me some thoughts from her day. One is food for thought. The other one is her granddaughter Abby and husband Nolan, and their newborn Beau. Look at the hair on this baby!

Even though it’s a little after 6pm and I’ve been busy all day, there’s not much excitement in my day. I worked at Jeannette, but PENNDOT was down, so I had to do my other jobs then go back to Jeannette. Mike P needed help with a few things, then I went to Greensburg. Thankfully PENNDOT was back up so I finished there in good time and went back to Jeannette.

There were thunder storms during the night and early morning. These will wake everything up and get spring started. The sky was dramatic, with blue skies and white clouds and even dark gray.

I spent the day cleaning and doing some laundry. The day was basically dreary and cold and windy so I didn’t get to walk. But the dark day made my lantern glow. As I needed to pop over to Giant Eagle to pick up my prescription, I was planning on walking at the Mall or even L A Fitness. But when I walked out of the pharmacy the weather had turned horrid. It was very cold and windy and there were even little ice balls pelting everywhere. So I came home.

Faced with how to get my exercise in, I put some CD’s in the turntable and did an aerobic dance-type workout for about 25 minutes. I’m really glad no one was around to witness THAT! But it felt good to move around a bit since I couldn’t walk outside.
