Today was a typical Wednesday. I did all the cleaning – but took a half an hour in the middle of the day to pop over to Spirit Halloween for Autmn. She had Cameron’s costume on hold there and I needed to pick it up. So I accomplished that, then got gas in the Jeep. Since Autmn is temporarily without her car I am taking her and Cameron to his 3-year checkup in the morning. Came home and finished cleaning and laundry and took the trash up. Now – Day 2.

First, we had a little time before heading over to Eisenhower Farm, so we did a quick run around the battlefields. Here are some monument and scenery photos:

We were still early at the farm, but there’s lots to see. We walked up to the house, into the barn, to the garage. We took pictures of the house, front and back. I only took one photo inside. (not in order) When Eisenhower retired he donated the house and farm to the National Park Service.

Once we toured the house – which was wonderful and informative and historic and we learned a lot! – we walked over to the farm. Cows!

Happy cows

Eisenhower raised show cows.
By Friday at noon we were back at the battlefields. And at our favorite places – Little Round Top and Devil’s Den. They are directly across from each other, and both very treacherous and dangerous equally. A lot happened at both places.

Rocks and stones and paths – oh my!

It would have been quite the climb up for the troops….

We went back into town and ate lunch at Tommy’s Pizza. It IS the best pizza! As we were driving around after lunch we found a used history book store that took my box of Civil War books. I was glad that someone wanted them in a place where they would get attention. We walked next door to an ’emporium’ – very unique gifts that were more entertaining than practical . Very fun to look!

Since we ate a late lunch, we left the book store and drove down to the Mason-Dixon line – it was only about 10 minutes away. I took Kelly’s picture standing with one foot in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland!

We also drove over to the Outlets – there was a fleatique/antique store there but it was closed. I used the opportunity to pop into Bath and Body Works and take advantage of the sale on hand soaps. I got a Christmas one!

We did a little more driving around town – and then went to Mr. G’s ice cream for supper. We knew we wanted to get ice cream there – it’s SO yummy! – but it seemed too much to eat 3 meals and THEN get ice cream. So we skipped supper and got ice cream – Kelly got a chocolate peanut butter cone (homemade, not soft serve) and I got a bowl of death by chocolate. So good!

We left there very content. Since our motel was on a business strip, we finished the evening by going up to a few stores there. We stopped into Michael’s, Dollar Tree, Five Below, and Marshalls. Then across the street to Walmart as I needed to pick up a calendar. We were ready to call it a night!

QUOTE of the DAY:

PEANUTS?

Tomorrow October 29th is:
National Cat Day; National Hermit day; National Oatmeal Day; International Internet Day.
Jen will celebrate cats! I like oatmeal but I like them in cookies better. You wouldn’t be reading this without the internet! God bless…
On this day in History:

On this day in 1886, Lady Liberty was unveiled in the fog and rain, and Wall Street threw NYC’s first ticker-tape parade!
