I took a short walk this morning – I was uninspired! Di sent me the song of the day right on time (7:30am!), and this week’s theme is Cowboys. The song was: THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY. I love that song, but it always makes me cry! I listed to it all around the neighborhood, took a deep breath, and moved on with my day! (Just listened to it again and I’m sitting here sniffling!!! I’m such a sap…)
So to catch up on the last few days outside of Civil War Camp. Saturday coming back home after picking up pizza for the boys, the cars in front of me were all stopped. I couldn’t see a reason until I snaked past the tree line. There was a deer standing there just watching us all watching him(her?)! Then Jesse and Tonia had gone to Erie for a car show, and brought back the chair that got left behind last time we were at the farm. I was happy to have it, and tonight I scrubbed it up and rubbed it with lemon oil. It’s sitting in the living room beside the secretary/desk.
We had a nice visit with mom, and she actually made comments several time throughout our conversation. At a little after 5pm she tried wheeling away from us, and we figured she was hungry. Kath & I could smell the aroma of yummy food cooking. Mom probably didn’t want to miss out! I was glad to come home and eat (I stopped at Palmer’s farm and got corn, tomatoes, and yellow string beans).
I still haven’t had time to listen to any sermons – hope to do that as soon as I finish this. So I will leave you with one of my favorite verses, which often is what keeps me moving forward: However, as it is written: ‘no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.’ I Corinthians 2:9 Amen and Amen!
On this day in 1610 Explorer Henry Hudson entered the Hudson Bay (Wonder where it got its name???); in 1865 Lewis Carroll published ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ In 1909 the first Lincoln penny was issued, and in 1943 Lt. JFK’s PT Boat 109 sunk at Solomon islands. Birthdays: Pierre Charles L’Enfant, architect who laid out the design for Washington DC) was born in 1754; Frederic Auguste Bartholdi (designed the Statue of Liberty) was born in 1834; Kathy Lennon (Lennon Sisters!) in 1943. Wild Bill Hickok died at age 39 in 1876 -he was shot in the back of the head while playing poker; Alexander Graham Bell died at age 75 in 1922; Warren G Harding, 29th President, died at age 57 in 1923. Albert Woolson – last surviving Civil War Soldier – died at age 106 in 1956.
TOMORROW August 3 is:
How can you go out at night in the day? Oh, well. Maybe that only happens in Georgia if you are eating watermelon. Don’t try it! Have a happy Tuesday – God Bless…
